From San José to Sacramento: LEAF Parent Leader Daniela Guerra Joins the Fight for Education Equity 💪📚
We are proud to share that one of our very own LEAF Parents and Advocates, Daniela Guerra, joined this year’s Sacramento Bus Trip for Education—an annual event led by Senator Dave Cortese that brings together students, parents, educators, and community leaders to push for fair and equitable education funding across California.
Daniela has been part of the LEAF community for several years—growing her voice through our Advocacy Cohort and becoming a powerful advocate for families in East San José. This year, she took that passion to Sacramento to champion SB 743, a bill that would create the Education Equalization Endowment—a bold step to close California’s per-student funding gap by investing more in under-resourced districts.
In Daniela’s words:
“Me gustó la parte donde el Senador dijo que ya está luchando por la equidad de las escuelas del Este de San José. El motivo del viaje fue para saber sobre el presupuesto y el poder legislativo, estar más informada sobre los recursos educativos y luchar por una mejor educación y financiación para nuestros hijos.”
“I appreciated when the Senator said he’s already fighting for equity in East San José schools. I joined the trip to better understand the budget and legislative process, to learn more about educational resources, and to advocate for better education and funding for our children.”
